If you like this sort of thing, take a look at Oddball Content’s previous award nominations:
- Sunshine Blogger Award 1
- Sunshine Blogger Award 2
- Versatile Blogger Award (Contains toes and a weird thumb – you’ve been warned!)
This one is literally exactly the same as the Sunshine Blogger Award, so I’m not sure why the name has changed. But, as always, I’ll be answering eleven questions and setting eleven of my own for the eleven lucky bloggers I nominate. It’s a great
chain letter opportunity to show fellow bloggers how much you appreciate their craft.
Why did you start your blog?
I started Oddball Content as a way to be creative, write lighthearted things and hopefully entertain people.
As a youth I would read comedy articles on Something Awful and wish I could write like that. So now, over a decade later, I’m finally doing it.
What is your favourite way to unwind and relax?
Watching TV with my housemates (we love Friends), brunching with my fiancé or working away on my blog. I wish I had a nice bath so I could get loads of bath bombs.
What would your ideal job be?
Writing funny and interesting things about internet culture and the modern world. And making documentaries and radio programmes. And writing poetry. And stage plays. And working in a public relations agency on huge publicity stunts that amaze and delight the world. I just want to create and entertain.
What is your favourite film and why?
Brief Encounter because the dialogue is amazing and it breaks my heart so hard.
Which option would you pick between having a good, stable job with a good pay or doing something you love for very little money?
As long as my fiancé and I had enough to live on between us then of course I’d choose to do something I love. If not then I’d have to pick the money because you can’t do anything you love when you’ve starved to death and you’re just a skeleton.
Where would you most love to live and why?
Somewhere very tidy, peaceful and cosy but within walking distance of shops and restaurants etc. Maybe a very expensive apartment in a park in London or New York. With a holiday cabin in a forest.
What is your biggest fear?
Living a boring life where I don’t do anything or pursue any dreams. And getting trapped in public toilets.
What has been your biggest struggle, to date, with your blog?
There haven’t really been any struggles. I’m still learning which content performs best and I’m adjusting my strategy as I go.
Which quality do you admire most in people and why?
The ability to be the life of the party and hold everyone’s attention (even strangers!) with entertaining anecdotes. It’s a skill that is so beyond me that I can’t help but admire it in other people. (I do have other skills though, don’t worry…)
Which famous person (alive or dead) would you most like to be like and why?
I’m not sure, someone who writes cool stuff?
What is your goal for 2018?
I literally have a list of things I want to do this year. It includes:
- do a journalism course
- meditate every day
- create a short film
- make a series of radio programmes for the radio station where I volunteer
And I’ve already achieved so much this year and it’s only February!
